"Shepherd's Cottage"
Nostie, Kyle of Lochalsh, Ross-shire, Scotland, IV40 8EQ

Shepherds Cottage is located at the heart of this most beautiful part of the North West Highlands and is surrounded by opportunities for either a thoroughly active or quietly relaxed holiday.

There are numerous Munros in this the Kintail area, making it the perfect location for hill-walkers, plus the Cuillen, Glenelg, Torridon and Nevis mountain ranges all reachable by car. There are also many mid and low-level walks in the area (including forest, coastal, glen and loch-side) for those who don't wish to go to such heights.

If you like deserted glens, tumbling burns and cascading waterfalls such as the magnificent Falls of Glomach, (not to mention the stunning Loch Duich and Lochalsh just minutes away) then Shepherds Cottage is for you.
For the photography buffs, there is nearby Eilean Donan Castle, iron age brochs, and of course wildlife galore (golden eagles, pine martens, seals, porpoises, otters, wild goats and red deer have all been spotted in the vicinity). In addition there is the magical Isle of Skye with its dark Cuillen mountains, beautiful fairy glens and more castles and stunning views of sea and hills than you can shake a stick at.

For sports and activities - there is canoeing, horse riding, llama trekking, fishing, and bike hire. As well as Nessie-spotting!, quad-biking and archery all only about an hour away by car. Or you could go whale-watching, take a seal trip, or even sail in a glass-bottomed boat.

However those wanting that more relaxed experience should visit the delightful Plockton fishing village (made famous by the Hamish MacBeth TV series) or the more remote Glenelg peninsula. Or perhaps take a cruise on the loch, or enjoy the peace and quiet of Applecross village accessed via the highest road in Scotland (ok that bit is slightly less relaxed! But the pub lunch is superb)

There is good pub food, excellent restaurants and outstanding sea food specialities within easy reach, that’s if you can fit it in after Alison’s splendid breakfasts. Plus of course the Talisker distillery and other local breweries to satisfy the need for “refreshments” as they are locally known.

All in all there is plenty to do and masses to see for all the family and Alison and Graham are happy to help with local advice as required.
