"Shepherd's Cottage"
| Shepherds Cottage is ideally placed for visiting all the major attractions of the North West Highlands of Scotland. Situated in the magnificent mountainous Lochalsh area, you will be only a few minutes drive from • The most photographed castle in Scotland - “Eilean Donan” • The most well known fishing village - “Plockton” (featured in the BBC TV series Hamish Macbeth) • The most romantic of Scottish Islands - “The Isle of Skye” • The highest public road in the UK – “Bealach Na Ba” (not for the faint hearted) There are a vast range of places to visit for all the family, including ancient Iron Age “Pictish Brochs”, military archaeological sites, and the home of Gavin Maxwell who wrote “Ring of Bright Water” about the local otters. Walkers can tackle amongst others, the Munro’s of Kintail or the Falls of Glomach. Alternatively there are less demanding but equally enjoyable treks on many local paths. A wide range of boat trips visit seal colonies, view underwater life or go in search of Whales. Or you can go wild life spotting for yourself, after otters, eagles, pine martins or red deer. And after all that activity, enjoy a meal at one of the many excellent pubs or restaurants, often serving locally caught seafood’s. Then head “home” for a thoroughly deserved and restful night in the comfort of Shepherd’s Cottage. |
